Journal ArticleDOI
Phenotypic robustness conferred by apparently redundant transcriptional enhancers
TL;DR: The hypothesis that secondary enhancers contribute to phenotypic robustness in the face of environmental and genetic variability is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphological evolution through multiple cis -regulatory mutations at a single gene
Alistair P. McGregor,Alistair P. McGregor,Virginie Orgogozo,Virginie Orgogozo,Isabelle Delon,Jennifer Zanet,Dayalan G. Srinivasan,François Payre,David L. Stern +8 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the accumulation of multiple small-effect changes at a single locus underlies the evolution of a morphological difference between species, and support the view that alleles of large effect that distinguish species may sometimes reflect the collection of multiple mutations of small effect at select genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Small Peptides Switch the Transcriptional Activity of Shavenbaby During Drosophila Embryogenesis
Takefumi Kondo,Serge Plaza,Serge Plaza,Jennifer Zanet,Jennifer Zanet,E. Benrabah,E. Benrabah,Philippe Valenti,Philippe Valenti,Y. Hashimoto,Y. Hashimoto,Satoru Kobayashi,Satoru Kobayashi,François Payre,François Payre,Yuji Kageyama,Yuji Kageyama +16 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that during Drosophila embryogenesis, Pri sORF peptides provide a strict temporal control to the transcriptional program of epidermal morphogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low affinity binding site clusters confer hox specificity and regulatory robustness.
Justin Crocker,Namiko Abe,Lucrezia Rinaldi,Alistair P. McGregor,Nicolás Frankel,Shu Wang,Ahmad Alsawadi,Philippe Valenti,Philippe Valenti,Serge Plaza,Serge Plaza,François Payre,François Payre,Richard S. Mann,David L. Stern +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the Hox protein Ultrabithorax (Ubx) in complex with its cofactor Extradenticle (Exd) bound specifically to clusters of very low affinity sites in enhancers of the shavenbaby gene of Drosophila.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moesin and its activating kinase Slik are required for cortical stability and microtubule organization in mitotic cells
Sébastien Carréno,Ilektra Kouranti,Edith Szafer Glusman,Margaret T. Fuller,Arnaud Echard,François Payre +5 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the spatiotemporal control of moesin activation at the mitotic cortex provides localized cues to coordinate cortical contractility and microtubule interactions during cell division.
