Journal ArticleDOI

Defective peroxisomal catabolism of branched fatty acyl coenzyme A in mice lacking the sterol carrier protein-2/sterol carrier protein-x gene function.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used gene targeting in mice to investigate the unknown function of Scp2, encoding sterol carrier protein-2 (SCP2; a peroxisomal lipid carrier) and sterol Carrier protein-x (SCPx; a fusion protein between SCP2 and a peroxideisomal thiolase).
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma sitosterol elevations are associated with an increased incidence of coronary events in men: Results of a nested case-control analysis of the Prospective Cardiovascular Münster (PROCAM) study

TL;DR: Elevations inSitosterol concentrations and the sitosterol/cholesterol ratio appear to be associated with an increased occurrence of major coronary events in men at high global risk of coronary heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dietary α-Linolenic Acid, EPA, and DHA Have Differential Effects on LDL Fatty Acid Composition but Similar Effects on Serum Lipid Profiles in Normolipidemic Humans

TL;DR: The present data support the hypothesis that isolated dietary ALA, EPA, and DHA intakes lead to differential enrichment in LDL due to interconversion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of dietary fatty acids on the composition and oxidizability of low-density lipoprotein

TL;DR: Enrichment of LDL with MUFA reduces LDL susceptibility to oxidation, and evidence from this diet suggests that highly unsaturated n-3 fatty acids in moderate amounts do not increase LDL oxidizability when provided in the context of a diet rich in MUFA.
