Journal Article
Age related decline of microvascular regulation measured in healthy individuals by retinal dynamic vessel analysis.
TL;DR: The DVA technique shows good potential for investigating cardiovascular aspects in preventive medicine and can be explained by the change of biomechanical properties of the vessel wall as well as physiological changes of the vascular endothelial function with age.

TL;DR: The study of health in Pomerania (SHIP) as discussed by the authors comprises two independent cohorts SHIP-START (recruited between 1997 and 2001) and SHIPTREND (recruited between 2008 to 2012), which were established to examine the health and disease status of the general adult population in Northeast Germany given that this region had the lowest life expectancy in Germany in the 1990s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-related differential expression of apoptosis-related genes in conjunctival epithelial cells.
TL;DR: The data show an age-related expression of apoptosis-related genes such as casp-3, Bad, Bax and Bcl-2 in normal conjunctival cells, which will help understand the expression pattern of apoptotic genes during physiological ageing of the conjunctiva and the possible dysregulation of apoptotics during acute and chronic diseases such as dry eye disease, allergic conjunctivitis or cicatrizing conjunctIVitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fine mapping of the Schnyder's crystalline corneal dystrophy locus.
Veena Theendakara,Gerard Tromp,Helena Kuivaniemi,Peter White,Seema Panchal,Jennifer Cox,R. Scott Winters,Petra Riebeling,Frank Tost,Maria Hoeltzenbein,Timo Tervo,Wolfram Henn,Elke Denniger,M. Krause,Murat Köksal,Sebnem Kargi,Suat Hayri Ugurbas,Terho Latvala,Amanda M. Shearman,Jayne S. Weiss +19 more
TL;DR: The authors used haplotype analysis with densely spaced microsatellite markers in a total of 13 families to refine the candidate interval for Schnyder's crystalline corneal dystrophy.
