Journal ArticleDOI

Amplified fragment length polymorphism markers linked to a major quantitative trait locus controlling scab resistance in wheat.

TL;DR: The frequency distribution of scab severity indicated that resistance to spread of scabs within a spike was controlled by a few major genes, which may help in marker-assisted breeding to improve resistance to scab in wheat.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resistance to fusarium head blight and deoxynivalenol accumulation in wheat

TL;DR: The percentage of scabbed spikelets and kernels can be generally used to predict DON levels in harvested wheat grain, and 16 wheat lines from various origins that accumulated less than 2 mg/kg DON may be useful as sources for breeding wheat cultivars with lower DON levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic analysis of scab resistance QTL in wheat with microsatellite and AFLP markers.

TL;DR: Three chromosomal regions associated with scab resistance were detected in a common cultivar, Ning7840, by microsatellite and AFLP analysis and it was shown that the major QTL was located in a chromosome region about 8 cM in length around Xgwm533 and Xbarc147.
Journal ArticleDOI

Host plant resistance genes for fusarium head blight: Mapping and manipulation with molecular markers

TL;DR: This review seeks to summarize information on molecular markers associated with quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to FHB in wheat and barley and the use of those markers for marker assisted selection.
