Journal ArticleDOI

Prevalence and predictive value of pre-therapeutic sarcopenia in cancer patients: A systematic review.

TL;DR: Pre-therapeutic sarcopenia was significantly and independently associated with post-operative complications, chemotherapy-induced toxicity and poor survival in cancer patients, and has severe consequences for outcomes of cancer patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of gait speed in older adults to identify complications associated with frailty: A systematic review.

TL;DR: GS over 4m (at a threshold of 1m/s) is suggested as a new frailty screening test in older cancer patients (65 and over) to guide the implementation of a comprehensive geriatric assessment during the initial management phase or during follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI

Slow Gait Speed Is an Independent Predictor of Early Death in Older Cancer Outpatients: Results from a Prospective Cohort Study.

TL;DR: Walking tests are associated with early death within the 6 month follow up period after a CGA independent of cancer site and cancer extension and GS alone < 0.8 m/s is at least as efficacious as the SPPB in predicting this outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impaired mobility, depressed mood, cognitive impairment and polypharmacy are independently associated with disability in older cancer outpatients: The prospective Physical Frailty in Elderly Cancer patients (PF-EC) cohort study.

TL;DR: Disability was highly prevalent in older cancer outpatients before cancer treatment but was not associated with oncologic factors, and depressed mood, cognitive impairment and polypharmacy were the geriatric variables significantly and independently associated with disability.
