Fundamental spray characteristics of air-assisted injection system using aviation kerosene

TL;DR: In this article, the spray characteristics of an air-assisted injector under various injection parameters and ambient conditions were investigated in a constant volume chamber experimentally, where high-speed backlight imaging technique was used for spray visualization to obtain macroscopic characteristics such as spray shape while Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer was utilized to measure spray droplet diameter and velocity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Intake Manifold Water Injection on Combustion and Emissions of Diesel Engine

TL;DR: In this article, the dilution, thermal and chemical effects of IMWI on the combustion and emissions characteristics of a four-stroke, direct injection as well as turbocharged diesel engine are investigated by CFD simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental study of the hydraulic free piston engine

TL;DR: In this article, a prototype of a hydraulic free piston engine has been developed to achieve efficient energy conversion directly from chemical energy of fuel to hydraulic energy, and the experimental results show that the majority of fuel burns in the rapid combustion phase due to the high piston velocity in the final part of the compression stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance analysis of a multilayer thermoelectric generator for exhaust heat recovery of a heavy-duty diesel engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance characteristics of a multilayer thermoelectric generator are investigated for the exhaust heat recovery of a heavy-duty diesel engine, and the potential for the power output is estimated based on the world harmonised transient cycle.
