Journal ArticleDOI
Chrysin Induces Antidiabetic, Antidyslipidemic and Anti-Inflammatory Effects in Athymic Nude Diabetic Mice.
Juan José Ramírez-Espinosa,Johann Saldaña-Ríos,Sara García-Jiménez,Rafael Villalobos-Molina,Gabriela Ávila-Villarreal,Angelica Nallelhy Rodriguez-Ocampo,Germán Bernal-Fernández,Samuel Estrada-Soto +7 more
TL;DR: It was found that chrysin could produce similar effects as metformin, a drug used for the treatment of diabetes, since both test samples decreased glucose and triglycerides levels, they impaired the generation of pro-inflammatory cytokines involved in the development of diabetes and its consequences, such as atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery, synthesis and in combo studies of a tetrazole analogue of clofibric acid as a potent hypoglycemic agent
Gabriel Navarrete-Vázquez,Alfredo Alaniz-Palacios,Sergio Hidalgo-Figueroa,Cristina González-Acevedo,Gabriela Ávila-Villarreal,Samuel Estrada-Soto,Scott P. Webster,José L. Medina-Franco,Fabian López-Vallejo,Jorge Guerrero-Álvarez,Hugo Tlahuext +10 more
TL;DR: The in vitro inhibitory activity of 1 against 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) was evaluated, showing a moderate inhibitory enzyme activity, being more active than clofibrate and clofibric acid.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihypertensive and vasorelaxant effects of dihydrospinochalcone-A isolated from Lonchocarpus xuul Lundell by NO production: computational and ex vivo approaches.
Gabriela Ávila-Villarreal,Oswaldo Hernández-Abreu,Sergio Hidalgo-Figueroa,Gabriel Navarrete-Vázquez,Fabiola Escalante-Erosa,Luis M. Peña-Rodríguez,Rafael Villalobos-Molina,Samuel Estrada-Soto +7 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, dihydrospinochalcone-A induces a significant antihypertensive effect due to its direct vasorelaxant action on rat aorta rings, through NO/sCG/PKG pathway and potassium channel opening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihypertensive and vasorelaxant mode of action of the ethanol-soluble extract from Tagetes lucida Cav. aerial parts and its main bioactive metabolites.
Samuel Estrada-Soto,Ma. Eva González-Trujano,Priscila Rendón-Vallejo,Luis Arias-Durán,Gabriela Ávila-Villarreal,Rafael Villalobos-Molina +5 more
TL;DR: Results provide evidence and endorsed the antihypertensive properties attributed to T. lucida in traditional medicine, which is produced by vasorelaxant effect mainly through multitarget NO/GMPc system activation and calcium channel blockade.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anxiolytic-like effects and toxicological studies of Brickellia cavanillesii (Cass.) A. Gray in experimental mice models
Gabriela Ávila-Villarreal,María Eva González-Trujano,Azucena Ibeth Carballo-Villalobos,Berenice Aguilar-Guadarrama,Sara García-Jiménez,Diana Giles-Rivas,Patricia Castillo-España,Rafael Villalobos-Molina,Samuel Estrada-Soto +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that MEBc has a wide range of pharmacology-toxicology patterns and is a potential anxiolytic phytomedicinal agent, and in vivo toxicological studies on acute and sub-acute mice models recommended by OECD support the results.
