Journal ArticleDOI
Local epidemics gone viral: Evolution and diffusion of the Italian HIV-1 recombinant form CRF60_BC
Alessia Lai,Francesco R. Simonetti,Gaetano Brindicci,Annalisa Bergna,Simona Di Giambenedetto,Gaetana Sterrantino,Cristina Mussini,Stefano Menzo,Patrizia Bagnarelli,Maurizio Zazzi,Gioacchino Angarano,Massimo Galli,Laura Monno,Claudia Balotta +13 more
TL;DR: 5-year follow-up surveillance shows that CRF60_BC gained epidemic importance, spreading among young MSM in multiple Italian regions and increasing its population size in few years, as the number of sequences identified so far has triplicated since the authors' first report.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ceftazidime-avibactam use for KPC-Kp infections: a retrospective observational multicenter study
Mario Tumbarello,Mario Tumbarello,Francesca Raffaelli,Maddalena Giannella,Elisabetta Mantengoli,Alessandra Mularoni,Mario Venditti,Francesco Giuseppe De Rosa,Loredana Sarmati,Matteo Bassetti,Gaetano Brindicci,Marianna Rossi,Roberto Luzzati,Paolo Grossi,Alberto Corona,Alessandro Capone,Marco Falcone,Cristina Mussini,Enrico Maria Trecarichi,Antonio Cascio,Elena Guffanti,Alessandro Russo,Gennaro De Pascale,Carlo Tascini,Ivan Gentile,Angela Raffaella Losito,Linda Bussini,Giampaolo Corti,Giancarlo Ceccarelli,Silvia Corcione,Silvia Corcione,Mirko Compagno,Daniele Roberto Giacobbe,Annalisa Saracino,Massimo Fantoni,Spinello Antinori,Maddalena Peghin,Paolo Bonfanti,Alessandra Oliva,Andrea De Gasperi,Giusy Tiseo,Cristina Rovelli,Marianna Meschiari,Nour Shbaklo,Teresa Spanu,Roberto Cauda,Pierluigi Viale +46 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors retrospectively analyzed observational data on use and outcomes of CAZ-AVI therapy for infections caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae (KPC-Kp) strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV-1 subtypes and circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) from HIV-infected patients residing in two regions of central and southern Italy.
Laura Monno,Gaetano Brindicci,Sergio Lo Caputo,Grazia Punzi,Teresa Scarabaggio,Chiara Riva,Cesare Di Bari,Piera Pierotti,Annalisa Saracino,Antonella Lagioia,Francesco Mazzotta,Claudia Balotta,Gioacchino Angarano +12 more
TL;DR: Although non‐B subtypes principally infect non‐Italian patients, in Italy they can no longer be considered exclusively restricted to subjects from endemic areas, and social and epidemiological changes are responsible for an increasing circulation of non‐ B subtypes in Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Co-receptor switch during HAART is independent of virological success.
Annalisa Saracino,Laura Monno,Cibelli Dc,Grazia Punzi,Gaetano Brindicci,Nicoletta Ladisa,Alessandra Tartaglia,Antonella Lagioia,Gioacchino Angarano +8 more
TL;DR: The occurrence of a tropism shift in both directions was independent of HAART use, irrespective of its efficacy, and the CD4 count nadir was the only baseline characteristic able to predict an R5‐to‐X4 viral shift.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Mutations Outside the V3 Region on Coreceptor Tropism Phenotypically Assessed in Patients Infected with HIV-1 Subtype B
Laura Monno,Annalisa Saracino,Luigia Scudeller,Grazia Punzi,Gaetano Brindicci,Maurantonio Altamura,Antonella Lagioia,Nicoletta Ladisa,Gioacchino Angarano +8 more
TL;DR: This study identifies specific amino acid changes outside V3 which contribute to CTR and extends the analysis to include pure X4 and increasing the sample size to define gp120 variables/changes which should be included in predictive algorithms.
