Paper-based microfluidics for DNA diagnostics of malaria in low resource underserved rural communities
Julien Reboud,Gaolian Xu,Alice Garrett,Moses Adriko,Zhugen Yang,Edridah M. Tukahebwa,Candia Rowell,Jonathan M. Cooper +7 more
TL;DR: The tests, which enabled the diagnosis of malaria species in patients from a finger prick of whole blood, were both highly sensitive and specific, detecting malaria in 98% of infected individuals in a double-blind first-in-human study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cycling of Rational Hybridization Chain Reaction To Enable Enzyme-Free DNA-Based Clinical Diagnosis
TL;DR: A convenient, enzyme-free amplification mechanism for a rational hybridization chain reaction, implemented in a simple format for isothermal amplification and sensing, applied to the DNA-based diagnosis of hepatitis B virus in 54 patients showed excellent sensitivity and showed the potential of this convenient, low cost, enzymes-free method for use in low resource settings.
Journal ArticleDOI
A rapid variant-tolerant reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay for the point of care detection of HIV-1.
Yingxue Li,Yingxue Li,Yingxue Li,Xin Chen,Yongjuan Zhao,Zhenzhou Wan,Yi Zeng,Yingying Ma,Lianqun Zhou,Lianqun Zhou,Gaolian Xu,Julien Reboud,Jonathan M. Cooper,Chiyu Zhang +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, a variant-tolerant reverse-transcription RT-LAMP amplification of the virus's INT gene was proposed for point-of-care HIV diagnosis with a limit of detection <18 copies/reaction.
