Journal ArticleDOI
Towards the enhancement of medical imaging with non-destructive testing (NDT) CMOS sensors. Evaluation following IEC 62220-1-1:2015 international standard
N. Martini,V. Koukou,George Fountos,I. Valais,Athanasios Bakas,Konstantinos Ninos,Ioannis Kandarakis,G.S. Panayiotakis,Ch. Michail +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the modulation transfer function (MTF) of a non-destructive testing (NDT)/ industrial inspection CMOS sensor in conjunction with a calcium tungstate (CaWO4) thin screen was investigated.
Light Emission Efficiency of (GOS:Eu) Powder Screens Under X-Ray Mammography Conditions
M. Michail,Ioannis Valais,A. Toutountzis,N. Kalyvas,George Fountos,S. David,Ioannis Kandarakis,George Panayiotakis +7 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Grains size and shape dependence of luminescence efficiency of Lu 2 O 3 :Eu thin screens
I. E. Seferis,I. E. Seferis,Justyna Zeler,Christos Michail,S. David,Ioannis Valais,George Fountos,Nektarios Kalyvas,Athanasios Bakas,Ioannis Kandarakis,Eugeniusz Zych,G.S. Panayiotakis +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, a comparative evaluation of luminescence efficiency of Lu 2 O 3 :Eu phosphors screens, in transmission mode, prepared with different grain shape and size, and manufactured by the sedimentation method was provided.
Book ChapterDOI
Calcification Detection Optimization in Dual Energy Mammography: Influence of the X-Ray Spectra
V. Koukou,N. Martini,George Fountos,P. Sotiropoulou,Christos Michail,I. Valais,Ioannis Kandarakis,G.C. Nikiforidis +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, various combinations of maximum tube voltages, 23-30kVp for low energy and 50- 60kVP for high energy, and filter thicknesses were examined in order to obtain quasi-monochromatic spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studying the energy dependence of intrinsic conversion efficiency of single crystal scintillators under X-ray excitation
N. Kalyvas,Ioannis Valais,S. David,Ch. Michail,George Fountos,P. Liaparinos,Ioannis Kandarakis +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the intrinsic conversion efficiency (nC) of single crystal scintilators has been investigated under X-ray excitation and the experimental results showed that nC is a constant value for X-rays energies in the order of keV, although a nonproportional behavior has been reported.
