Journal ArticleDOI
Coherent zero-state and π-state in an exciton–polariton condensate array
C. W. Lai,C. W. Lai,C. W. Lai,Na Young Kim,Na Young Kim,Shoko Utsunomiya,Shoko Utsunomiya,Georgios Roumpos,Hui Deng,M. D. Fraser,Tim Byrnes,Tim Byrnes,Patrik Recher,Patrik Recher,Norio Kumada,Toshimasa Fujisawa,Yoshihisa Yamamoto,Yoshihisa Yamamoto +17 more
TL;DR: The observation of spontaneous build-up of in-phase and antiphase ‘superfluid’ states in a solid-state system; an array of exciton–polariton condensates connected by weak periodic potential barriers within a semiconductor microcavity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of Bogoliubov excitations in exciton-polariton condensates
Shoko Utsunomiya,Shoko Utsunomiya,Shoko Utsunomiya,Lin Tian,Georgios Roumpos,C. W. Lai,C. W. Lai,Norio Kumada,Toshimasa Fujisawa,Makoto Kuwata-Gonokami,Andreas Löffler,Sven Höfling,Alfred Forchel,Yoshihisa Yamamoto,Yoshihisa Yamamoto,Yoshihisa Yamamoto +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the first observation of interaction effects on the exciton-polariton condensate and the excitation spectra, which are in quantitative agreement with the Bogoliubov theory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single vortex-antivortex pair in an exciton-polariton condensate
Georgios Roumpos,M. D. Fraser,M. D. Fraser,Andreas Löffler,Sven Höfling,Alfred Forchel,Yoshihisa Yamamoto,Yoshihisa Yamamoto +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a non-equilibrium condensates of exciton-polaritons are used as a platform for exploring the physics of vortex-antivortex pairs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Power-law decay of the spatial correlation function in exciton-polariton condensates
Georgios Roumpos,Michael Lohse,Wolfgang Hartmut Nitsche,Jonathan Keeling,Marzena H. Szymańska,Peter B. Littlewood,Andreas Löffler,Sven Höfling,Lukas Worschech,Alfred Forchel,Yoshihisa Yamamoto +10 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless-like phase order survives in open-dissipative systems and to clarify the influence of external noise on spatial coherence in nonequilibrium phase transitions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gain-induced trapping of microcavity exciton polariton condensates.
Georgios Roumpos,Wolfgang Hartmut Nitsche,Sven Höfling,Alfred Forchel,Yoshihisa Yamamoto,Yoshihisa Yamamoto +5 more
TL;DR: An effective trapping mechanism is revealed, due to the stimulated scattering gain inside the finite excitation spot combined with the short lifetime, in a GaAs-based microcavity under nonresonant excitation with an intensity-stabilized laser.
