Friction and wear of PTFE composites at cryogenic temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the tribological behavior of PTFE composites against steel at cryogenic temperatures and found that the friction coefficient decreases with temperature down to 77 K, but did not follow a linear evolution further down to extreme low temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Friction and wear of PEEK composites in vacuum environment

TL;DR: In this article, the sliding performance of PEEK composites was investigated in vacuum environment with carbon fiber reinforced PEEK composite with PTFE and MoS2 or graphite as further solid lubricant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tribological characteristics of polyimide composites in hydrogen environment

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of hydrogen environment on the friction and wear behavior of polyimide composites was investigated for two different PI-types (PI1 and PI2) filled with natural or synthetic graphite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental effects on the sliding behaviour of PEEK composites

TL;DR: In this article, the sliding performance of PEEK materials against steel discs was investigated in air, vacuum and hydrogen environment, and it was shown that the formation and adhesion of a thin and homogeneous transfer film strongly depend on the environments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benchmark of thin film coatings for lubricated slip-rolling contacts

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present some recently developed DLC coatings (a-C:H and ta-C) as well as a novel coating-substrate system (Zr(C,N)) in a benchmark test procedure under slip-rolling conditions in the presence of liquid lubricants.
