Journal ArticleDOI
Ability of the American College of Rheumatology 1987 criteria to predict rheumatoid arthritis in patients with early arthritis and classification of these patients two years later.
Alain Saraux,J M Berthelot,Gérard Chalès,Catherine Le Henaff,Jean B Thorel,Sylvie Hoang,I. Valls,Valérie Devauchelle,Antoine Martin,Dominique Baron,Y.L. Pennec,Estelle Botton,Jean Yves Mary,Paul Le Goff,Pierre Youinou +14 more
TL;DR: After a 2-year followup, the ACR 1987 classification criteria used in combination with an office-based rheumatologist's diagnosis were effective in distinguishing patients with and without RA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bone mineral density in men with genetic hemochromatosis and HFE gene mutation
Pascal Guggenbuhl,Yves Deugnier,J F Boisdet,Yan Rolland,Aleth Perdriger,Y. Pawlotsky,Gérard Chalès +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that there is significant bone loss in HFE-related hemochromatosis that cannot solely be explained by hypogonadism or cirrhosis and further investigations are needed to determine the role of iron overload itself.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of several ultrasonography scoring systems for synovitis and comparison to clinical examination: results from a prospective multicentre study of rheumatoid arthritis
Maxime Dougados,Sandrine Jousse-Joulin,F. Mistretta,M.A. D'Agostino,Marina Backhaus,Jacques Bentin,Gérard Chalès,Isabelle Chary-Valckenaere,Philip G. Conaghan,F. Etchepare,Philippe Gaudin,Walter Grassi,Désirée van der Heijde,Jérémie Sellam,Esperanza Naredo,Marcin Szkudlarek,Richard J. Wakefield,Alain Saraux +17 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that US evaluation of synovitis is an outcome measure at least as relevant as physical examination and further studies are required in order to achieve optimal US scoring systems for monitoring patients with RA in clinical trials and in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of a nurse-led programme on comorbidity management and impact of a patient self-assessment of disease activity on the management of rheumatoid arthritis: results of a prospective, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial (COMEDRA)
Maxime Dougados,Martin Soubrier,Elodie Perrodeau,Laure Gossec,Françoise Fayet,Mélanie Gilson,Marie-Hélène Cerato,S. Pouplin,René-Marc Flipo,Laurent Chabrefy,Gaël Mouterde,Liana Euller-Ziegler,Thierry Schaeverbeke,Bruno Fautrel,Alain Saraux,Isabelle Chary-Valckenaere,Gérard Chalès,Emmanuelle Dernis,Pascal Richette,Xavier Mariette,Francis Berenbaum,Jean Sibilia,Philippe Ravaud +22 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates the short-term benefit of a nurse-led programme on RA comorbidity management and the impact of patient self-assessment of disease activity on RA treatment intensification.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ability of synovitis to predict structural damage in rheumatoid arthritis: a comparative study between clinical examination and ultrasound
Maxime Dougados,Valérie Devauchelle-Pensec,Jean François Ferlet,Sandrine Jousse-Joulin,M.A. D'Agostino,Marina Backhaus,Jacques Bentin,Gérard Chalès,Isabelle Chary-Valckenaere,Philip G. Conaghan,Richard J. Wakefield,Frédéric Etcheparre,Philippe Gaudin,Walter Grassi,Désirée van der Heijde,Xavier Mariette,Esperanza Naredo,Marcin Szkudlarek +17 more
TL;DR: This study confirms the validity of synovitis for predicting subsequent structural deterioration irrespective of the modality of examination of joints, but also suggests that both clinical and ultrasonographic examinations may be relevant to optimally evaluate the risk of subsequentStructural deterioration.
