Journal ArticleDOI

Thermally activated emission of exoelectrons accompanying the oxidation of Cs films

TL;DR: In this article, a Cs monolayer on a Ru(0001) substrate was shown to emit electrons when exposed to O2 molecules, and detailed analysis of the kinetics revealed that electron emission is coupled to dissociation of this species, which proceeds with an activation energy of about 1 eV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ejection of O− ions by interaction of O2 with Ru(0001) covered with submonolayers of Cs

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of exposure of a Ru(0001) surface covered by submonolayer quantities of Cs to O2 leads to the emission (with very low probabilities) of O− ions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of a Surface State on the (111) Terraces of Stepped Cu(211)

TL;DR: In this paper, a free-electron-type behavior for clean Ir(100) and (110) surfaces was revealed, where the appearance of a structure at 0.6 eV below the Fermi level was identified with a chemisorption level created by "back donation" of metallic $d$ electrons into the CO $2.
