Book ChapterDOI
Self-assembly Phenomena
TL;DR: According to modern cosmology, the universe was born as a burst of energy as mentioned in this paper, and the initial temperature of the drop was so high that even atoms could not exist, they appeared at a later stage, and then various molecules became established too.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elementary processes at gas-metal interfaces
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the development of several physical methods for the study of solid surfaces under ultrahigh vacuum conditions, of which the most important are discussed in this progress report.

My Life with Science (extendes English edition)
TL;DR: Gerhard Ertl as discussed by the authors was the first person to receive the Nobel Prize as a surprise birthday present, and he became one of the great pioneers in heterogeneous catalysis, identifying the active centers of catalysts.
Ultrafast dynamics of recombinative desorption of hydrogen from a Ru(001) surface
TL;DR: In this article, the femtosecond-laser excitation induces recombinative desorption of molecular H2 from atomic hydrogen on a ruthenium surface, and the measured ultrafast timescale of this surface reaction reveals an excitation process mediated by hot substrate electrons.
