Factors Explaining Charges in European Airports: Competition, Market Size, Private Ownership and Regulation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined factors determining airport charges and found that low-cost carriers and airlines with a high market share have a stronger countervailing power than public or regulated airports and the regulation mechanism does not seem to influence substantially the level of airport charges.

Privatization and competition in the delivery of local services: An empirical examination of the dual market hypothesis

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors empirically analyzed the existence of a dual market for contracts in local services and showed that the dual market implies the high concentration and dominance of major firms in large municipalities, and local monopolies in the smaller ones.
