Journal ArticleDOI

Bevacizumab reverses need for liver transplantation in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

TL;DR: A case of a 47‐year‐old woman with HHT successfully treated with the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) antibody bevacizumab and antagonism of VEGF receptors led to a dramatic regression of hepatic vascular malformations and reversal of high‐output cardiac failure and complications of portal hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood lactate but not serum phosphate levels can predict patient outcome in fulminant hepatic failure

TL;DR: While serum phosphate concentrations have limited clinical utility as prognostic markers, persistently elevated arterial blood lactate levels despite adequate fluid resuscitation are indicators of a poor prognosis in FHF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Image analysis of liver collagen using sirius red is more accurate and correlates better with serum fibrosis markers than trichrome.

TL;DR: Collagen proportional area determined by quantitative digital image analysis better quantifies liver fibrosis than histological stage; however, its clinical use has been limited by non‐standardized methods.
