TL;DR: It is suggested that percentage dense area is a stronger breast cancer risk factor than absolute dense area, but it is unclear whether the association is independent ofabsolute dense area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Communication between physicians and cancer patients about complementary and alternative medicine: exploring patients' perspectives.
TL;DR: Three themes emerged describing barriers to unsuccessful communication as perceived from the patient's point of view: physicians' indifference or opposition toward CAM use, physicians' emphasis on scientific evidence, and patients' anticipation of a negative response from their physician.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary patterns are associated with body mass index in multiethnic women.
TL;DR: The study results support the ideas that choosing the right foods may be important in weight control and that food-based dietary patterns may be useful in dietary counseling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Consistent association of type 2 diabetes risk variants found in europeans in diverse racial and ethnic groups.
Kevin M. Waters,Daniel O. Stram,Mohamed T. Hassanein,Loic Le Marchand,Lynne R. Wilkens,Gertraud Maskarinec,Kristine R. Monroe,Laurence N. Kolonel,David Altshuler,Brian E. Henderson,Christopher A. Haiman +10 more
TL;DR: The consistency of allelic associations in diverse racial/ethnic groups is not predicted under the hypothesis of Goldstein regarding “synthetic associations” of rare mutations in T2D.
Journal ArticleDOI
A longitudinal investigation of mammographic density: the multiethnic cohort.
TL;DR: Japanese ancestry, overweight, estrogen/progestin treatment, and, to a lesser degree, estrogen-only therapy predicted a slower decline in densities with age, whereas overweight and having any child were associated with lower densities at initial status.
