Journal ArticleDOI
Development of total aboveground volume equations for seven important forest tree species in France
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed six species-specific equations for estimating the total aboveground volume of trees, including merchantable volume, branches and twigs, using circumference at breast height and total height as independent variables.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using terrestrial laser scanning data to estimate large tropical trees biomass and calibrate allometric models: A comparison with traditional destructive approach
Stephane Momo Takoudjou,Stephane Momo Takoudjou,Pierre Ploton,Bonaventure Sonké,Jan Hackenberg,Jan Hackenberg,Sébastien Griffon,François de Coligny,Narcisse Guy Kamdem,Moses Libalah,Gislain Ii Mofack,Gilles Le Moguédec,Raphaël Pélissier,Nicolas Barbier,Nicolas Barbier +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, an operational approach based on available software allowing the retrieving of TLS volume with low bias and high accuracy for large tropical trees was presented. But the results of the obtained models proved necessary to account for the complexity of buttressed parts of tree trunks, which were separately modelled through a meshing approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenology of wood formation: Data processing, analysis and visualisation using R (package CAVIAR)
Cyrille B. K. Rathgeber,Cyrille B. K. Rathgeber,Fleur Longuetaud,Fleur Longuetaud,Frédéric Mothe,Frédéric Mothe,Henri E. Cuny,Henri E. Cuny,Gilles Le Moguédec +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed objective definitions of the main phenological events occurring during wood formation, i.e. the beginning and ending of the cell enlarging and maturing phases and the beginning of cell mature phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fagacées: a tree-centered growth and yield model for sessile oak (Quercus petraea L.) and common beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)
TL;DR: Fagacees as discussed by the authors is a tree growth model for pure Oak or Beech stand management in even-aged high forests and coppice with standards forests. It can be classified as a distance-independent tree-centered model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating the Suitability of Management Strategies of Pure Norway Spruce Forests in the Black Forest Area of Southwest Germany for Adaptation to or Mitigation of Climate Change
TL;DR: Overall, strategies classified as “mitigation” were favored, while strategies falling into the “adaptation”-category were limited to the youngest age-classes in the optimal solution.
