West Nile virus transmission and human infection risk in Veneto (Italy): a modelling analysis

TL;DR: This work calibrated a temperature-driven mathematical model through a Bayesian approach that simulates the WNV infection in an avian population with seasonal demography and found that WNV is more likely to be re-activated each year via previously infected mosquitoes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of cattle grub (Hypoderma spp.) prevalence in northeastern Italy: an immunoepidemiological survey on bulk milk samples using ELISA.

TL;DR: The ELISA test on bulk milk samples has been shown, under field conditions, to be a useful, cost-effective and easy test for the diagnosis of bovine hypodermosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wide detection of Aedes flavivirus in north-eastern Italy - a European hotspot of emerging mosquito- borne diseases

TL;DR: A wide distribution of Aedes flavivirus (AeFV) in Aedes albopictus is detected, with higher infection prevalence in Trentino than inVeneto, and AeFV sequences found in Veneto showed a high percentage of similarity to those detected in Trentinos and to those previously reported in other areas of northern Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Screening of commercial milk samples using ELISA for immuno-epidemiological evidence of infection by the cattle grub (Diptera: Oestridae).

TL;DR: It was concluded that testing commercial milk for antibodies is an efficient way of detecting the presence of hypodermosis in cattle, especially in those countries for which no data on this disease are available.
