Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of magnetic circular dichroism using a transmission electron microscope

TL;DR: Measurements of electron energy-loss magnetic chiral dichroism with XMCD spectra obtained from the same specimen are compared to show that chiral atomic transitions in a specimen are accessible with inelastic electron scattering under particular scattering conditions, which could have important consequences for the study of magnetism on the nanometre and subnanometre scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

d and f metal interface formation on silicon

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the experimental approach to the formation of semiconductor interfaces is presented, with a review on the relevant techniques and a critical review of recent experimental results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of gestational diabetes on fetal oxygen and glucose levels in vivo

TL;DR: Fetal hypoxia and acidemia have been reported in pregestational diabetic pregnancies in relation to poor glycaemic control, but it is still uncertain whether this is the case in apparently well‐controlled gestational diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

RNiO3 perovskites (R=Pr,Nd): Nickel valence and the metal-insulator transition investigated by x-ray-absorption spectroscopy.

TL;DR: The results suggest that, in contrast to hole-doped Ni1-xLixO and La2-xSrxNiO4+delta, the electronic structure is characterized by a strongly hybridized ground state of mainly 3d7 character.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advanced photoelectric effect experiment beamline at Elettra: A surface science laboratory coupled with Synchrotron Radiation.

TL;DR: The paper describes the novel technical solutions adopted, namely, the design of a quasiperiodic undulator resulting in optimized suppression of higher harmonics over a large photon energy range (10-100 eV), the thermal stability of optics under high heat load via cryocoolers, and the end station interconnected setup allowing full access to off-beam and on-beam facilities.
