Journal ArticleDOI
Genotoxicity of the herbicide formulation Roundup® (glyphosate) in broad-snouted caiman (Caiman latirostris) evidenced by the Comet assay and the Micronucleus test
TL;DR: This study demonstrated adverse effects of Roundup on DNA of C. latirostris and confirmed that the Comet assay and the MN test applied on caiman erythrocytes are useful tools in determining potential genotoxicity of pesticides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotoxicity and oxidative stress in fish after a short-term exposure to silver nanoparticles
Carla Bacchetta,Analía Ale,Maria Fernanda Simoniello,Susana Graciela Gervasio,Carla Davico,Andrea Silvana Rossi,Martín F. Desimone,Gisela Laura Poletta,Gerardo Daniel López,José Maria Monserrat,Jimena Cazenave +10 more
TL;DR: A short exposure to sublethal concentrations of AgNPs is enough to generate deleterious effects on fish, including DNA damage, as evidenced by the DNA damage in fish erythrocytes at higher concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caiman latirostris (broad-snouted caiman) as a sentinel organism for genotoxic monitoring: basal values determination of micronucleus and comet assay.
TL;DR: This study adapts two widely used genotoxic techniques, the comet assay and the micronucleus test, for their application in C. latirostris and determines the baseline values in this species, in order to establish its suitability as a sentinel organism for future genot toxic monitoring of environmental pollutants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic, enzymatic and developmental alterations observed in Caiman latirostris exposed in ovo to pesticide formulations and mixtures in an experiment simulating environmental exposure
Gisela Laura Poletta,E. C. Kleinsorge,A. Paonessa,Marta D. Mudry,Alejandro Larriera,Pablo Ariel Siroski +5 more
TL;DR: Results demonstrated genotoxicity, enzymatic and metabolic alterations, as well as growth delay in caimans exposed in ovo to Treatments 1 and 2, showing a higher toxicity for the mixture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cypermethrin induction of DNA damage and oxidative stress in zebrafish gill cells.
Enrique Valentín Paravani,Maria Fernanda Simoniello,Gisela Laura Poletta,Victor Hugo Casco,Victor Hugo Casco +4 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that CYP causes gill cell's DNA damage and oxidative stress, modifying the activities of the enzymes responsible for maintaining ROS balance, as well as in their corresponding gene expression levels.
