Journal ArticleDOI

The thermoinsulation effect of snow cover within a climate model

TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of surface climate and land surface processes to treatments of snow thermal conductivity was investigated using a state-of-the-art climate model (CAM3-CLM3).
Journal ArticleDOI

Triose phosphate limitation in photosynthesis models reduces leaf photosynthesis and global terrestrial carbon storage

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess the impact of changing the representation of TPU limitation on leaf and global-scale processes and find that TPU limits photosynthesis at cold temperatures, high CO2 concentrations, and high light levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal and annual carbon fluxes in a boreal forest landscape

TL;DR: In this article, a model of forest dynamics was used to estimate seasonal and annual landscape carbon fluxes in the boreal forests near Fairbanks, Alaska, where the forest landscape is a successional mosaic of recently burned to old-growth stands and productive to unproductive stands growing on a variety of soil types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensitivity of a GCM simulation to subgrid infiltration and surface runoff

TL;DR: In this paper, a subgrid parameterization of infiltration and surface runoff was evaluated using a land surface model coupled to an atmospheric general circulation model, which resulted in significantly less infiltration of water into the soil compared to a simulation without subgrid hydrologic processes.
