Mechanisms underlying the frequency dependence of contraction and [Ca2+]i transients in mouse ventricular myocytes

TL;DR: In mouse ventricular myocytes the [Ca2+]i‐frequency response depends on a balance between the increase in SR content and the loss of trigger ICa,L, and small changes in this balance may contribute to variability in frequency‐dependent behaviour.
Journal ArticleDOI

Replacement of the muscle-specific sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase isoform SERCA2a by the nonmuscle SERCA2b homologue causes mild concentric hypertrophy and impairs contraction-relaxation of the heart.

TL;DR: Comparison of data obtained with those obtained in mice expressing similar cardiac levels of SERCA2a instead ofSERCA2b indicate the importance of the muscle-specific SERCA 2a isoform for normal cardiac development and for the cardiac contraction-relaxation cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial and Temporal Inhomogeneities During Ca2+ Release From the Sarcoplasmic Reticulum in Pig Ventricular Myocytes

TL;DR: In pig ventricular myocytes, areas of delayed release are related to regional absence of T tubules but not ryanodine receptors, which contributes to a slower overall rate of rise of [Ca2+]i.
Journal ArticleDOI

Late Na Current Inhibition by Ranolazine Reduces Torsades de Pointes in the Chronic Atrioventricular Block Dog Model

TL;DR: Despite down-regulation of I(NaL) in remodeled cAVB hearts, ranolazine is antiarrhythmic against drug-induced TdP, which is reflected in concomitant changes of BVR.
