A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Pregnancy Outcomes in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Lupus Nephritis
Andrew Smyth,Guilherme H. Oliveira,Brian D. Lahr,Kent R. Bailey,Suzanne M. Norby,Vesna D. Garovic +5 more
TL;DR: In patients with SLE, both lupus nephritis and anti-phospholipid antibodies increase the risks for maternal hypertension and premature births, and the presented evidence supports timing of pregnancy relative to SLE activity and multispecialty care of these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Liraglutide on Clinical Stability Among Patients With Advanced Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Kenneth B. Margulies,Adrian F. Hernandez,Margaret M. Redfield,Michael M. Givertz,Guilherme H. Oliveira,Robert T. Cole,Douglas L. Mann,David J. Whellan,Michael S. Kiernan,G. Michael Felker,Steven McNulty,Kevin J. Anstrom,Monica R. Shah,Eugene Braunwald,Thomas P. Cappola +14 more
TL;DR: The use of liraglutide did not lead to greater posthospitalization clinical stability among patients recently hospitalized with heart failure and reduced LVEF, and these findings do not support the use ofLiragLutide in this clinical situation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation and Percutaneous Left Ventricular Decompression Therapy with Impella Is Associated with Improved Outcomes in Refractory Cardiogenic Shock.
Sandeep M. Patel,Jerry Lipinski,Sadeer G. Al-Kindi,Toral R. Patel,Petar Saric,Jun Li,Fahd Nadeem,Thomas Ladas,Amer Alaiti,Ann Phillips,Benjamin Medalion,Salil V. Deo,Yakov Elgudin,Marco A. Costa,Mohammed Najeeb Osman,Guilherme F. Attizzani,Guilherme H. Oliveira,Basar Sareyyupoglu,Hiram G. Bezerra +18 more
TL;DR: In the largest US-based retrospective study, the addition of Impella to VA-ECMO for patients with refractory cardiogenic shock was associated with lower all-cause 30 day mortality, lower inotrope use, and comparable safety profiles as compared with VA- ECMO alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Preexisting Cardiovascular Disease in Patients With Different Types of Cancer: The Unmet Need for Onco-Cardiology
TL;DR: The prevalence of CVDs is unexpectedly high and suboptimally managed in patients with cancer and coexisting heart disease, and there seems to be an opportunity for onco-cardiologists to fulfill this unmet need and help improve outcomes.
