Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the electronic properties of MgO doped with group III, IV, and V elements: trends with varying dopant atomic number

TL;DR: Because of the high formation energy of metal atoms substituting for O atoms, the calculated metal atom substitution for the Mg atom in MgO has a paramagnetic state and the formation energy is much lower than that of the former case.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interface engineering: Boosting the energy conversion efficiencies for nanostructured solar cells

TL;DR: In this paper, the up-to-date progress and understanding of inter- face engineering and its role in influencing the efficiency of nanostructured solar cells is discussed and representative examples of the interface engineering method is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Understanding the growth behavior of titania nanotubes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported an unusual anodization behavior of Ti at voltages above 100V in a fluorine ion containing organic electrolyte, and they found that the transition was induced by the rate-limiting process of the diffusion of water, local temperature and pH at the highvoltage regime.
Journal ArticleDOI

A coupling of martensitic and metamagnetic transitions with collective magneto-volume and table-like magnetocaloric effects

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupling of the first-order paramagnetic-to-induced-ferromagnetic martensitic and the second-order antiferromagnetic-induced ferromagnetic metamagnetic transitions was found in MnNi0.8Fe0.2Ge alloy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unusual electronic structure and observation of dispersion kink in CeFeAsO parent compound of FeAs-based superconductors.

TL;DR: The first comprehensive high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission measurements on CeFeAsO, a parent compound of FeAs-based high temperature superconductors with a magnetic-structural transition at ∼150 K, find the unusual Fermi surface topology deviates strongly from the band structure calculations.
