Expanders for micro-CHP systems with organic Rankine cycle

TL;DR: In this article, Qiu and Guoquan proposed a method to improve the quality of the data collected by the data collection system. Tel: +44 115 8467132; +44 11 951 3159.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental investigation of a biomass-fired ORC-based micro-CHP for domestic applications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the preliminary results of an experimental investigation on the biomass-fired organic Rankine cycle (ORC)-based micro-CHP system, which mainly consists of a biomass boiler, an evaporator, an ORC expander, an alternator, a heat recuperator and a condenser.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of state-of-the-art aerogel applications in buildings

TL;DR: Aerogels are a special type of solid material with nanometre-scale pores < 1/3000th the width of a human hair as mentioned in this paper, and their porosity is in excess of 90%, in some cases as high as 99.9%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative investigation of thermoelectric air-conditioners versus vapour compression and absorption air-conditioners

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the performance of three types of domestic air-conditioners, namely the vapour compression airconditioner (VCAC), the absorption air conditioner (AAC) and the thermoelectric air conditioners (TEAC), and showed that although they have the advantages of high COP and low purchase price, use of these systems will be phased out due to their contribution to the greenhouse effect and depletion of the ozone layer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preliminary experimental investigations of a biomass-fired micro-scale CHP with organic Rankine cycle

TL;DR: In this paper, a micro-scale biomass-fuelled organic Rankine cycle (ORC) combined heat and power (CHP) system was developed for domestic washing and under-floor heating purposes.
