Single drop experiments with liquid test systems: A way of comparing two types of mechanically agitated extraction columns

TL;DR: In this article, a comparative analysis between a Kuhni column and a pulsed sieve-plate column is presented, based on the description of the basic mechanisms of drop transport and drop breakage, which are sufficient for the prediction of the global behaviour of the columns, as long as coalescence can be neglected.

Drop Transport and Drop Break-up in Liquid-liquid Extraction Columns: Comparison between Kuhni and Pulsed Column

TL;DR: Single drop experiments have been performed in specific labscales devices in order to determine laws representative of the basic mechanisms of drop transport and drop break-up that are useful to the complete description of the behaviour of mechanically agitated solvent extraction columns via a drop population balance model.
