Journal ArticleDOI
Expression cloning and characterization of human 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2, a microsomal enzyme possessing 20 alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activity
TL;DR: The data suggest that the 17 beta-HSD type 2 cDNA encodes the microsomal 17 beta -HSD of human placenta, described by several laboratories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of high molecular weight FK-506 binding activities reveals a novel FK-506-binding protein as well as a protein complex.
Gregory J. Wiederrecht,Shirley H.Y. Hung,H K Chan,Alice I. Marcy,Mary M. Martin,Jimmy R. Calaycay,D. Boulton,Nolan H. Sigal,R L Kincaid,John Siekierka +9 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that complex formation with CaN may not be a general property of the FKBPs and reveal that FKBP51 may be similar, if not identical, to hsp56, a component of non-transformed steroid receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
FK-506-binding protein: three-dimensional structure of the complex with the antagonist L-685,818.
Joseph W. Becker,Jennifer Rotonda,Brian M. McKeever,H K Chan,Alice I. Marcy,Gregory J. Wiederrecht,Jeffrey D. Hermes,James P. Springer +7 more
TL;DR: Structural analysis of the three-dimensional structure of the FK-506-ligand complex with respect to residues conserved among these proteins suggests a small number of surface residues near the bound ligands that may play a critical role in interactions between the protein-drug complex and calcineurin.
ComponentDOI
Improved calcineurin inhibition by yeast FKBP12-drug complexes. Crystallographic and functional analysis.
TL;DR: It is found that the complex of yeast FKBP12 with L-685,818, a well characterized antagonist of FK-506 immunosuppression, is a potent inhibitor of calcineurin.
