Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of lipid peroxidation in isolated inner membrane of rat liver mitochondria by superoxide dismutase
TL;DR: Two enzymes, GSH peroxidase and catalase, were found to prevent peroxidation of unsaturated lipids in suspensions of mitochondria or “high amplitude swelling” which is related to lipid per oxidation, suggesting an involvement of H202 which may be built according to the equation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Copper-thionein from fetal bovine liver.
TL;DR: It was of interest to examine whether or not a low molecular weight copper-rich metal-thionein was present in biological species which received no metal pretreatment at all and from bovine fetal liver an 8 Cu 2 Zn-thionin having a molecular weight of 11 500 was successfully isolated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Homologous copper(1)-(thiolate)2-chromophores in yeast copper thionein
TL;DR: The chemical and physico-chemical data allow the conclusion that homologous Cu(I)-(thiolate) 2 -chromophores are present in these microbial Cu-thioneins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Superoxide dismutase activity of Cu(Tyr)2 and Cu, Co-erythrocuprein.
Regina Brigelius,Hans-Jürgen Hartmann,Wolf Bors,Manfred Saran,Edmund Lengfelder,Ulrich Weser +5 more
TL;DR: In the presence of a biologically significant chelating agent such as serum albumin, a marked decrease in the Cu2aq-induced superoxide dismutation was observed, and the highest rate constant was measured for the hydrated Cu2 (2.7 x 10(9) M-1S-1).
Journal ArticleDOI
High resolution solution structure of the protein part of Cu7 metallothionein.
TL;DR: The three-dimensional solution structure of the protein part of Cu7 metallothionein (Cu7MT) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been attempted by 1H two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy at 800 MHz and a peptide structure is obtained which is again similar, but still not identical, within indetermination, to that available.
