Journal ArticleDOI

2016 European guideline on Mycoplasma genitalium infections

TL;DR: Mycoplasma genitalium infection contributes to 10–35% of non‐chlamydial non‐gonococcal urethritis in men and in women, associated with cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Journal ArticleDOI

Two cases of verified clinical failures using internationally recommended first-line cefixime for gonorrhoea treatment, Norway, 2010.

TL;DR: Enhanced awareness and more frequent follow-up examination, test-of-cure and appropriate verification/falsification of presumed clinical treatment failures, involving several clinical and laboratory parameters should be strongly emphasised worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Azithromycin and moxifloxacin for microbiological cure of Mycoplasma genitalium infection: an open study.

TL;DR: Azithromycin 1 g as a single dose seems to be the best choice of treatment for M. genitalium, with moxifloxacin 400 mg × 1 for seven days if treatment fails.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibiotic treatment of symptomatic Mycoplasma genitalium infection in Scandinavia: a controlled clinical trial

TL;DR: Azithromycin was more effective than doxycycline in treating patients infected with M genitalium and persistent urethral inflammation was seen in a substantial portion of the men after eradication of M genitalia regardless of the antibiotic drug, indicating a poor predictive value of urethrals in evaluation of persistent or recurrent infection.
