Journal ArticleDOI
Postoperative Compensatory Ammonium Excretion Subsequent to Systemic Acidosis in Cardiac Patients.
Friederike Roehrborn,Daniel-Sebastian Dohle,Indra N. Waack,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Heinz Jakob,Johanna Katharina Teloh +5 more
TL;DR: The acidosis origin seems to have a large influence on renal compensation in terms of ammonium excretion and the possibility of an overcorrection in relation to the increase in base excess.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cutting precision in a novel aortic valve resection tool. Research in progress.
Daniel Wendt,Sebastian Stühle,Hermann Wendt,Matthias Thielmann,Brigitte Kipfmüller,Florian Hauck,Bernd Vogel,Heinz Jakob +7 more
TL;DR: The present study clearly confirmed ability of an accelerated cutting of stenotic aortic valve by the aortIC valve resection tool and should be enhanced by adding a centering mechanism, thus achieving a more precise cutting process in order to avoid secondary damage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex acute dissection of the aortic arch--a novel hybrid concept for one stage surgical repair.
Jaroslav Benedik,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Markus Kamler,Paschalis Tossios,Th. Mathias,Holger Eggebrecht,Heinz Jakob +6 more
TL;DR: The aim of this present review is to present the “Essen” treatment concept of complicated acute aortic arch dissection from diagnostics to operation strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rebuttal: Should the distal landing zone be assessed in thoracic endovascular aortic repair?
Rolf Alexander Jánosi,Markus Bettin,Philipp Kahlert,Michael Horacek,Fadi Al-Rashid,Raimund Erbel,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Heinz Jakob,Thomas Schlosser,Holger Eggebrecht +9 more
TL;DR: The use of two different stentgrafts to influence the stent-length and taper ratio and the “1þ 1” strategy described by Pu et al seems to be similar to that previously described by Kato et al. more than 10 years ago, and it does not appear to be difficult to treat aortic dissection with one stentGraft without resulting in oversizing.
Book ChapterDOI
Combined Procedures in Cardiac and Vascular Surgery
Heinz Jakob,Stephan Knipp +1 more
TL;DR: It is recommended to individualize the indication for carotid revascularization after discussion by a multidisciplinary team involving a neurologist and to determine the timing of the procedure by local expertise and clinical presentation, targeting the most symptomatic territory first.
