Journal ArticleDOI

Plant lectins are potent inhibitors of coronaviruses by interfering with two targets in the viral replication cycle.

TL;DR: The antiviral activity of plant lectins with specificity for different glycan structures against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and the feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) in vitro is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Feline herpesvirus infection. ABCD guidelines on prevention and management

TL;DR: Feline herpesvirus infections cause acute rhinitis and conjunctivitis, usually accompanied by fever, depression and anorexia, and in most cats, FHV remains latent after recovery, and they become lifelong virus carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of feline coronavirus RNA in feces, tissues, and body fluids of naturally infected cats by reverse transcriptase PCR

TL;DR: The RT-nPCR assay with plasma or serum cannot be used to establish a definite diagnosis of FIP, but it does provide a new means to identify asymptomatic FCoV carriers and will be of use to screen cats before their introduction into F coV-free catteries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Different Tests to Diagnose Feline Infectious Peritonitis

TL;DR: Positive and negative predictive values of Rivalta's test, a test that distinguishes between exudates and transudates, and immunofluorescence staining of coronavirus antigen in macrophages were investigated, and diagnostic assays on the fluid in cats with body effusion had good predictive values.
