Journal ArticleDOI

The mass of cylindrical systems in general relativity

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown through the study of slowly changing cylindrical systems that there is no conserved mass per unit length for a relativistic infinite cylinder, and that this non-conservation is a result of gravitational induction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy transfer by gravitation in Newtonian theory

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of whether energy can be transferred from one system to another across empty space by gravitational interaction alone is considered, and two examples are given of systems in which the potential energy is the same at the beginning and end of an operation that does produce a resultant energy transfer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gravitational Waves from Axi-Symmetric Isolated Systems

TL;DR: Bondi as mentioned in this paper gave a brief account of the paper, Gravitational waves in general relativity VII, by H. Bondi, M. G. van der Burg and A. K. Metzner, which was published in Proc. Roy. Soc. A, 269, 21.
