Journal ArticleDOI
Property control of carbon materials by fluorination
Hidekazu Touhara,Fujio Okino +1 more
TL;DR: Fluorination is one of the most effective chemical methods to modify and control physicochemical properties of carbon materials as mentioned in this paper, but the interpretation of the results are not necessarily facile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of the Ion Storage/Transfer Behavior in an Electrical Double‐Layer Capacitor by Using Ordered Microporous Carbons as Model Materials
Hirotomo Nishihara,Hiroyuki Itoi,Taichi Kogure,Peng-Xiang Hou,Hidekazu Touhara,Fujio Okino,Takashi Kyotani +6 more
TL;DR: The present study clearly indicates that three-dimensionally connected and regularly arranged micropores were very effective at reducing ion-transfer resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic Structures and Chemical Bonding of Fluorinated Fullerenes Studied by NEXAFS, UPS, and Vacuum-UV Absorption Spectroscopies
Ryuichi Mitsumoto,Tohru Araki,Eisuke Ito,Yukio Ouchi,Kazuhiko Seki,Koichi Kikuchi,Yohji Achiba,Hiroshi Kurosaki,Takaaki Sonoda,Hiroshi Kobayashi,Olga V. Boltalina,Valeria K. Pavlovich,Lev N. Sidorov,Yoshiyuki Hattori,Ning Liu,Sumitoshi Yajima,Shinji Kawasaki,Fujio Okino,Hidekazu Touhara +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the chemical bonding and the electronic structures of C60Fx and C70Fx were investigated by near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy and UV photoemission (UPS), which are useful methods for examining the unoccupied and the occupied states, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrochemical Li Insertion in B-Doped Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes
TL;DR: In this article, Li insertion into boron-doped multi-wall carbon nanotubes (B-MWNTs) was investigated in a nonaqueous medium and the results of transmission electron microscopy observations showed that the walls of the tubes consisted of highly aligned ca. 35-45 graphene layers with good 3D ordering feature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Computer experiments on aqueous solutions. III. Monte Carlo calculation on the hydration of tertiary butyl alcohol in an infinitely dilute aqueous solution with a new water–butanol pair potential
TL;DR: In this article, Monte Carlo calculations have been carried out for an infinitely dilute aqueous solution of tertiary butylalcohol (TBA) at 298.15 K and ordinary density by the Metropolis scheme in an NVT ensemble.
