Journal ArticleDOI

Modal Analysis of Hollow Cylindrical Guided Waves and Applications

TL;DR: In this article, the dispersion behavior of cylindrical waves in hollow cylinders was evaluated theoretically and experimentally, and it was shown that the L- and F-modes have characteristics which are asymptotic to Lamb waves and to waves in a solid cylinder.
Journal ArticleDOI

Excitation of high frequency surface acoustic waves by phase velocity scanning of a laser interference fringe

TL;DR: In this article, a scanning interference fringe is obtained by intersecting two laser beams with different frequencies, and used as a thermoelastic source for generating 100 MHz band surface acoustic wave (SAW).
Journal ArticleDOI

Propagation phenomena of wideband guided waves in a bended pipe.

TL;DR: The propagation phenomena of guided waves in a bended pipe were investigated using a wideband laser ultrasonic system and indicated the amplitude of the F(1,1) mode converted from the L(0, 1) mode increased with the increase of the bending angle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of excitation and coherent amplitude enhancement of surface acoustic waves by the phase velocity scanning method

TL;DR: In this article, a general theoretical formulation for the characteristics of surface acoustic waves generated by the phase velocity scanning (PVS) method that employs a scanning single laser beam (SSB) or a scanning interference fringes (SIF) is presented.
