Intra-arterial Prourokinase for Acute Ischemic Stroke: The PROACT II Study: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Anthony J. Furlan,Randall T. Higashida,Lawrence R. Wechsler,Michael Gent,Howard A. Rowley,Carlos S. Kase,Michael S. Pessin,Arvind Ahuja,Fred Callahan,Wayne M. Clark,Frank L. Silver,Frank Rivera +11 more
TL;DR: Despite an increased frequency of early symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, treatment with IA r-proUK within 6 hours of the onset of acute ischemic stroke caused by MCA occlusion significantly improved clinical outcome at 90 days.
Journal ArticleDOI
PROACT: A Phase II Randomized Trial of Recombinant Pro-Urokinase by Direct Arterial Delivery in Acute Middle Cerebral Artery Stroke
Gregory J. del Zoppo,Randall T. Higashida,Anthony J. Furlan,Michael S. Pessin,Howard A. Rowley,Michael Gent +5 more
TL;DR: Intra-arterial local rpro-UK infusion was associated with superior recanalization in acute thrombotic/ thromboembolic stroke compared with placebo, and this study suggests that recenalization is enhanced with r Pro-UK and heparin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preservation of Memory With Conformal Avoidance of the Hippocampal Neural Stem-Cell Compartment During Whole-Brain Radiotherapy for Brain Metastases (RTOG 0933): A Phase II Multi-Institutional Trial
Vinai Gondi,Stephanie L. Pugh,Wolfgang A. Tomé,Chip Caine,Ben W Corn,Andrew A. Kanner,Howard A. Rowley,Vijayananda Kundapur,Albert S. DeNittis,Jeffrey Greenspoon,Andre Konski,Glenn Bauman,Sunjay Shah,Wenyin Shi,Merideth M Wendland,Lisa A. Kachnic,Minesh P. Mehta +16 more
TL;DR: Conformal avoidance of the hippocampus during WBRT is associated with preservation of memory and QOL as compared with historical series.
Journal ArticleDOI
White matter tractography using diffusion tensor deflection.
Mariana Lazar,David M. Weinstein,Jay S. Tsuruda,Khader M. Hasan,Konstantinos Arfanakis,M. Elizabeth Meyerand,Benham Badie,Howard A. Rowley,Victor M. Haughton,Aaron S. Field,Andrew L. Alexander +10 more
TL;DR: Simulations show that the deflection term is less sensitive than the major eigenvector to image noise and is promising for mapping the organizational patterns of white matter in the human brain as well as mapping the relationship between major fiber trajectories and the location and extent of brain lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dose Escalation of Desmoteplase for Acute Ischemic Stroke (DEDAS) Evidence of Safety and Efficacy 3 to 9 Hours After Stroke Onset
Anthony J. Furlan,Dirk Eyding,Gregory W. Albers,Yasir Al-Rawi,N. Kennedy R. Lees,Howard A. Rowley,Christian Sachara,Mariola Soehngen,Steven Warach,Werner Hacke +9 more
TL;DR: The results of DEDAS generally support the results of its predecessor study, Desmoteplase in Acute Ischemic Stroke (DIAS), and at a dose of 125 &mgr;g/kg desmotesplase appeared to improve clinical outcome, especially in patients fulfilling all MRI criteria.
