Journal ArticleDOI

Promising properties and future trend of eutectic high entropy alloys

TL;DR: Eutectic high-entropy alloys (EHEAs) are becoming a new research hotspot in the metallic materials community because of their excellent castability, fine and uniform microstructures even in the as-cast state, high strength, and good ductility as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new strategy to design eutectic high-entropy alloys using mixing enthalpy

TL;DR: In this article, a mixing enthalpy-based strategy was used to locate eutectic compositions in high entropy alloys (EHEAs) and a series of EHEAs were located and prepared following the mixing entropy method.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new strategy to design eutectic high-entropy alloys using simple mixture method

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple and effective strategy by combining mixing enthalpy and constituent binary eutectic compositions was proposed to design EHEA compositions, which was then applied to a series of (CoCrFeNi)Mx (M = Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf) HEAs, leading to the discovery of new EHEAs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Ta addition on the microstructures and mechanical properties of CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the alloying effects of Ta on microstructures and mechanical properties of CoCrFeNiTax high entropy alloys and showed that the effect of Ta element on microstructure changes from an initial single FCC solid solution (x = 0) to a hypoeutectic micro-structure (x= 1) and then to a fully eutective micro-structured (x ≥ 0) with a mixture of FCC and Co2Ta-type Laves phases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructures and mechanical properties of Co2MoxNi2VWx eutectic high entropy alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of Mo and W elements on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the alloys were investigated, and results showed that by decreasing the Mo andW contents to 0.8 in Co2MoxNi2VWx alloy, a fully eutectic microstructure was obtained.
