Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic analysis of housekeeping genes of members of the genus Acholeplasma: phylogeny and complementary molecular markers to the 16S rRNA gene.
Dmitriy V. Volokhov,Alexander A. Neverov,Joseph George,Hyesuk Kong,Sue X. Liu,Christine Anderson,Maureen K. Davidson,Vladimir Chizhikov +7 more
TL;DR: The multilocus phylogenetic analysis of Acholeplasma multilocale sequence data strongly indicated that this organism is most closely related to the genera Mesoplasma and Entomoplasma (family entomoplasmataceae) and form the branch with mesoplasma seiffertii, Mesopl plasma syrphidae, and Mesoplasia photuris.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological Enrichment of Mycoplasma Agents by Cocultivation with Permissive Cell Cultures
TL;DR: The infection of MDCK cells with serial dilutions of each mycoplasma species demonstrated that these common cell line contaminants can be detected reliably after 7-day enrichment in M DCK cell culture at contamination levels of 0.25 CFU/ml.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of Cell Culture Enrichment for Improving the Sensitivity of Mycoplasma Detection Methods Based on Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology (NAT)
Hyesuk Kong,Dmitriy V. Volokhov,Joseph George,Pranvera Ikonomi,Donna K. F. Chandler,Christine Anderson,Vladimir Chizhikov +6 more
TL;DR: Data demonstrating that the application of initial cell culture enrichment could significantly improve mycoplasma testing methods based on the nucleic acid amplification technology (NAT) including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)/microarray method is presented.
