In this study, the dynamic absorbing system for gas operated gun has been investigated. For this purpose, firstly. mathematical model of gas-operated shoulder-fired gun has been constructed. Through a series of experimental works using the devised test setup, the characteristic behavior of mathematical model was compared to the test results. In order to design the dynamic absorbing system, parameter optimization process has been performed based on the simplified isolation system under constraints of moving displacement and transmitted force. In order to implement the more efficient dynamic absorbing system, the characteristic performance of stroke-dependent variable damping system has been analyzed with some opening area curves. Finally, the performance of the designed dynamic absorbing system has been evaluated by simulation and experiment using the previous test apparatus.

Investigation of Dynamic Absorbing System in the Gas-operated Gun with High Transmitted Shock Force

Usage of a sparse and binary reward function remains one of the most challenging problems in reinforcement learning. In particular, when the environments wherein robotic agents learn are sufficiently vast, it is much more difficult to learn tasks because the probability of reaching the goal is minimal. A Hindsight Experience Replay algorithm was proposed to overcome these difficulties; however, problems persist that affect the learning speed and delay learning when a learning agent cannot receive proper rewards at the beginning of the learning process. In this paper, we present a simple method called Converging Goal Space and Binary Reward Function, which helps agents learn tasks easily and efficiently in large environments while providing a binary reward. At an early stage in training, a larger goal space margin facilitates the reward function for a more rapid policy learning. As the number of successes increases, the goal space is gradually reduced to the size used to the size used in the test. We apply this reward function to two different task experiments: sliding and throwing, which must be explored at a wider range than the reach of the robotic arms, and then compare the learning efficiency to that of experiments that only employ a sparse and binary reward function. We show that the proposed reward function performs better in large environments using physics simulation, and we demonstrate that the function is applicable to real world robotic arms.

Reinforcement Learning with Converging Goal Space and Binary Reward Function

Ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) is an attractive actuator among many electro-active polymers. In order to
improve the performance of IPMC actuator, an IPMC actuator with the patterned surface was proposed. It is named the
patterned IPMC actuator. In order to make use of its maximum effect, it is needed to establish a valid mathematical
model. Among many models of IPMC actuator, the grey box modeling proposed by Kanno et al. was suited to model the
patterned IPMC actuator. In this paper, we applied the grey box model based on Kanno's model. Theoretical and
experimental results demonstrate that the model is practical and effective enough in predicting the bending displacement
partly.
