Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon nanotube toughened aluminium oxide nanocomposite

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the mechanical properties of carbon nanotube-reinforced Al2O3 nanocomposites fabricated by hot-pressing and show that the fracture toughness, hardness and flexural strength of the nanocomposition were improved by 94%, 13% and 6.4% respectively, at 4-vol.% CNT additions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes reinforced Al2O3 nanocomposites: Mechanical properties and interfacial investigations

TL;DR: In this paper, a well-dispersed multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced Al2O3 nanocomposites were successfully fabricated by hot-pressing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent Advances on Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene Reinforced Ceramics Nanocomposites.

TL;DR: The utilisation of graphene in ceramic nanocomposites, either as a solo reinforcement or as a hybrid with CNTs, is the newest development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Graphene and carbon nanotube (GNT)-reinforced alumina nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of varied GNT contents on the microstructural features and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were investigated, and the well-dispersed GNT fillers resulted in higher sintered densities (>99%) in the composites, whilst the fracture mode alteration, grain refinement and improved strength and flexibility were associated with the CNTs and GNPs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wear resistant properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes reinforced Al2O3 nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this article, well-dispersed multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used to reinforce an Al2O3 via a hot-press consolidation.
