Toxicity of silver ions and differently coated silver nanoparticles in Allium cepa roots
Petra Cvjetko,Anita Milošić,Ana-Marija Domijan,Ivana Vinković Vrček,Sonja Tolić,Petra Peharec Štefanić,Ilse Letofsky-Papst,Mirta Tkalec,Biljana Balen +8 more
TL;DR: The highest toxicity was recorded for AgNPs-CTAB, which resulted with increased Ag uptake in the roots, consequently leading to strong reduction of the root growth and oxidative damage, and it can be concluded that the toxicity ofAgNPs is directly correlated with their size, overall surface charge and/or surface coating.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and magnetic properties of ZnMg-ferrite nanoparticles prepared using the co-precipitation method
Shams Rahman,Kashif Nadeem,Muhammad Anis-ur-Rehman,Muhammad Waseem Mumtaz,S. Naeem,Ilse Letofsky-Papst +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a soft magnetic spinel ferrite ZnMg-ferrite (Zn 1− x Mg x Fe 2 O 4, where x = 0.0, 0.1,0.2, 0 3, 0 4, and 0.5) was synthesized using the co-precipitation method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of dipolar and exchange interactions on magnetic blocking of maghemite nanoparticles
Kashif Nadeem,H. Krenn,T. Traussnig,Roland Würschum,Dorothée Vinga Szabó,Ilse Letofsky-Papst +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, Maghemite (γ-Fe 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles were prepared by microwave plasma synthesis as a loose powder and in compacted form, and the scaling law fitting was applied to the AC susceptibility data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phytotoxic effects of silver nanoparticles in tobacco plants
Petra Cvjetko,Mira Zovko,Petra Peharec Štefanić,Renata Biba,Mirta Tkalec,Ana-Marija Domijan,Ivana Vinković Vrček,Ilse Letofsky-Papst,Sandra Šikić,Biljana Balen +9 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that nano form of silver is less toxic to tobacco plants than silver ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substantial iron sequestration during green-clay authigenesis in modern deep-sea sediments
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of sediments from the Ivory Coast-Ghana Marginal Ridge demonstrates that iron can be buried at greater rates during green-clay formation. But, the results were limited to a single sample.
