Journal ArticleDOI
A Highly Significant Association between a COMT Haplotype and Schizophrenia
Sagiv Shifman,Michal Bronstein,Meira Sternfeld,Anne Pisanté-Shalom,Efrat Lev-Lehman,Avraham Weizman,Ilya Reznik,Baruch Spivak,Nimrod Grisaru,Leon Karp,Richard Schiffer,Moshe Kotler,Rael D. Strous,Marnina Swartz-Vanetik,Haim Y. Knobler,Eilat Shinar,Jacques S. Beckmann,Benjamin Yakir,Neil Risch,Naomi B. Zak,Ariel Darvasi +20 more
TL;DR: An efficient approach to gene discovery is reported that found a highly significant association between schizophrenia and a COMT haplotype and can be widely implemented for the genetic dissection of other common diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
COMT: a common susceptibility gene in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Sagiv Shifman,Michal Bronstein,Meira Sternfeld,Anne Pisanté,Avraham Weizman,Ilya Reznik,Baruch Spivak,Nimrod Grisaru,Leon Karp,Richard Schiffer,Moshe Kotler,Rael D. Strous,Marnina Swartz-Vanetik,Haim Y. Knobler,Eilat Shinar,Benjamin Yakir,Naomi B. Zak,Ariel Darvasi +17 more
TL;DR: The association between COMT and bipolar disorder was tested by examining the allele and haplotype found to be associated with schizophrenia and a significant association between bipolar disorder and COMT polymorphisms was found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combined electroconvulsive-clozapine therapy.
Marina Kupchik,Baruch Spivak,Roberto Mester,Ilya Reznik,N Gonen,Abraham Weizman,Moshe Kotler +6 more
TL;DR: It seems that combined ECT-clozapine treatment is effective and safe and this strategy may be a therapeutic option in treatment-resistant patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obsessive and compulsive symptoms in schizophrenia: a randomized controlled trial with fluvoxamine and neuroleptics.
Ilya Reznik,Pinkhas Sirota +1 more
TL;DR: This open, randomized, controlled study reveals that coadministration of fluvoxamine, an SSRI, and neuroleptics in patients with schizophrenia and OC symptoms was associated with specific improvements of these symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clozapine in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive symptoms in schizophrenia patients: a case series study.
Ilya Reznik,Yavin I,Rafael Stryjer,B. Spivak,N Gonen,Rael D. Strous,Roberto Mester,Abraham Weizman,Moshe Kotler +8 more
TL;DR: It seems that comorbid OC symptoms are common among CLZ-treated refractory schizophrenic patients and are likely to be an integral part of their illness.
