Journal ArticleDOI

MuSK Myasthenia Gravis IgG4 Disrupts the Interaction of LRP4 with MuSK but Both IgG4 and IgG1-3 Can Disperse Preformed Agrin-Independent AChR Clusters

TL;DR: Interference by IgG4 antibodies of the LRP4-MuSK interaction will be one pathogenic mechanism of MuSK antibodies, but IgG1-3MuSK antibodies will also contribute to the reduced AChR density and neuromuscular dysfunction in myasthenia patients with Mu SK antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI

A New Classification System for IgG4 Autoantibodies.

TL;DR: A modified classification system based on Witebsky’s postulates is established to determine IgG 4 pathogenicity in IgG4 autoimmune diseases, review characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms of IgG3 in these disorders, and investigate the contribution of other antibody entities to pathophysiology by additional mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Myasthenia Gravis: Pathogenic Effects of Autoantibodies on Neuromuscular Architecture.

TL;DR: An overview of the history and clinical aspects of MG is given, with a focus on the structure and function of myasthenic autoantigens at the NMJ and how they are affected by the autoantibodies’ pathogenic mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

The search for new antigenic targets in myasthenia gravis.

TL;DR: Cell‐based assays in which candidate target proteins are expressed on the cell surface of transfected cells and probed with patient sera enable us to begin to identify new antigenic targets and test antibody pathogenicity in vitro.
