Child Support Enforcement Policy and Unmarried Fathers’ Employment in the Underground and Regular Economies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors employ recent longitudinal data on unmarried fathers to compare levels of underground activity among fathers living in cities with differing levels of child support enforcement (CSE) and find that stricter CSE is associated with fewer hours of underground employment.

The Gender Poverty Gap: What Can We Learn From Other Countries?

TL;DR: This paper examined gender differences in poverty in eight industrialized countries: US, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands, and found that gender difference in human capital factors and family factors, as well as religion, culture, and policy, all played a role in accounting for gender poverty gaps within and across countries.

Child Support Enforcement and Fathers' Contributions to Their Nonmarital Children

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of child support enforcement on the amount of formal and informal contributions from nonresident fathers to nonmarital children was investigated, and they found that strong enforcement reduces the amount informal support, increases the amount formal support, and most importantly has no effect on the total amount of support received by unwed mothers.
