Fractional calculus model of articular cartilage based on experimental stress-relaxation

TL;DR: Experimental results on the stress-relaxation of equine articular cartilage in unconfined loading are reported by a fractional calculus viscoelastic model, which gives storage and loss moduli as functions of frequency, giving an advantage for large-scale dynamic studies that account for joint motion or impact.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rotordynamic Analysis of Rotor–Stator Rub Using Rough Surface Contact

TL;DR: In this article, the elastoplastic Jackson-Green (JG) rough surface contact model is used to calculate the quasistatic contact force as a function of rotor displacement, where bulk material deformation and surface cumulative damage are ignored.
Journal ArticleDOI

An elasto-plastic finite element study of displacement-controlled fretting in a plane-strain cylindrical contact

TL;DR: In this article, a finite element study of a 2D plane strain fretting model of a half cylinder in contact with a flat block under oscillatory tangential loading is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rotordynamic Crack Diagnosis: Distinguishing Crack Depth and Location

TL;DR: In this paper, a condition monitoring regimen capable of diagnosing the depth and location of a transverse fatigue crack in a rotordynamic system is presented, along with corresponding transfer matrix techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis and Optimization of Semicircular and Straight Lobe Viscous Pumps

TL;DR: In this paper, a viscous pump design that is capable of producing higher flow rates than the one introduced by Etsion and Yaier (1988) is investigated. But the geometry of the straight lobes does not lend itself to as straight forward a solution as the semicircular lobe analysis.
