How fast do gully headcuts retreat
Matthias Vanmaercke,Matthias Vanmaercke,Jean Poesen,Bert Van Mele,Matthias Demuzere,Matthias Demuzere,Amber Bruynseels,Valentin Golosov,José Fernando Rodrigues Bezerra,Sergey Bolysov,Aleksandr Dvinskih,Amaury Frankl,Yulia Fuseina,Antonio José Teixeira Guerra,Nigussie Haregeweyn,Ion Ionita,Fils Makanzu Imwangana,Jan Moeyersons,Itshack Moshe,Aliakbar Nazari Samani,Lilian Niacsu,Jan Nyssen,Yoshinori Otsuki,Maria Rădoane,Ivan Rysin,Yuri V. Ryzhov,Oleg Yermolaev +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a meta-analysis of measured gully headcut retreat (GHR) rates worldwide and found that GHR rates are subject to very large year-to-year variations.

Mapping and spatial-temporal assessment of gully density in the Middle Volga region, Russia
Valentin Golosov,Oleg Yermolaev,Ivan Rysin,Matthias Vanmaercke,Regina Medvedeva,Mariya Zaytseva +5 more
TL;DR: A large-scale mapping of gully density was carried out for the Middle Volga region of the Russian plain (188 000 km) based on the interpretation of aerial photographs (scale 1:17 000; surveys undertaken during 1956-1970) as mentioned in this paper.

Long-term monitoring of gully erosion in Udmurt Republic, Russia
Ivan Rysin,Ivan Rysin,Ivan Grigoriev,Mariya Zaytseva,Valentin Golosov,Valentin Golosov,A. G. Sharifullin +6 more
TL;DR: Vanmaercke et al. as discussed by the authors used historical aerial photographs and field observations to measure the distance from the gully head to a fixed reference point, and found that GHRR decreased from 2.4 to 0.3 m/yr−1 during the 1959-1997 observation period and the 1998-2015 period, respectively.

Assessment of contemporary erosion/sedimentation rates trend within a small cultivated catchment using the radiocaesium-137 as a chronomarker (a case study from the Udmurt republic, European Russia)
Artyom V. Gusarov,А.В. Гусаров,Ivan Rysin,И И Рысин,A. G. Sharifullin,А.Г. Шарифуллин,Valentin Golosov,В Н Голосов +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a study of sedimentation rates at a small dry valley bottom with almost completely cultivated catchment slopes is presented, where the bomb-derived and Chernobyl-derived radiocaesium-137 was used for dating valley bottom sediments in two time intervals: 1954(1963) and 1986-2016.
