Glycans Are a Novel Biomarker of Chronological and Biological Ages
Jasminka Krištić,Frano Vučković,Cristina Menni,Lucija Klaric,Toma Keser,Ivona Bečeheli,Maja Pučić-Baković,Mislav Novokmet,Massimo Mangino,Kujtim Thaqi,Pavao Rudan,Natalija Novokmet,Jelena Šarac,Saša Missoni,Ivana Kolcic,Ozren Polasek,Igor Rudan,Harry Campbell,Caroline Hayward,Yurii S. Aulchenko,Ana M. Valdes,James F. Wilson,Olga Gornik,Dragan Primorac,Vlatka Zoldoš,Tim D. Spector,Gordan Lauc +26 more
TL;DR: This study has revealed very extensive and complex changes in IgG glycosylation with age, and the combined index composed of only three glycans explained up to 58% of variance in age, considerably more than other biomarkers of age like telomere lengths.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genomics and epigenomics of the human glycome.
TL;DR: Recent progress in high-throughput glycomics, genomics and epigenomics enabled first epidemiological and genome-wide association studies of the glycome, which are presented in this mini-review.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antagonistic and synergistic epigenetic modulation using orthologous CRISPR/dCas9-based modular system
Goran Josipović,Vanja Tadić,Marija Klasić,Vladimir Zanki,Ivona Bečeheli,Felicia Fei-Lei Chung,Akram Ghantous,Toma Keser,Josip Madunić,Maria Bošković,Gordan Lauc,Zdenko Herceg,Aleksandar Vojta,Vlatka Zoldoš +13 more
TL;DR: A modular and extensible CRISPR/dCas9-based toolbox for epigenetic editing and direct gene regulation is presented and strong and persistent synergistic effect on gene transcription is revealed, up to 30 days following cell transfection, suggesting involvement of epigenetic mechanisms in maintenance of the reactivated state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between RASSF1A Promoter Methylation and Testicular Germ Cell Tumor: A Meta-analysis and a Cohort Study
Dora Markulin,Aleksandar Vojta,Ivana Samaržija,Marija Gamulin,Ivona Bečeheli,Irena Jukić,Čedomir Maglov,Vlatka Zoldoš,Aleksandra Fučić +8 more
TL;DR: The meta-analysis indicates a role of the RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation from peripheral blood in TCGT, and that finding was confirmed in a cohort study, which represents the first report of changed RassF 1A promoter methylation in peripheral blood TGCT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal Metabolic State and Fetal Sex and Genotype Modulate Methylation of the Serotonin Receptor Type 2A Gene (HTR2A) in the Human Placenta
Marina Horvatiček,Maja Perić,Ivona Bečeheli,Marija Klasić,Maja Žutić,Maja Kesić,Gernot Desoye,Sandra Nakić Radoš,Marina Ivanišević,Dubravka Hranilović,Jasminka Stefulj +10 more
TL;DR: The obtained results suggest that HTR2A is a sexually dimorphic epigenetic target of intrauterine exposures and may contribute to a better understanding of the early developmental origins of neurobehavioral and metabolic disorders associated with altered H TR2A function.
