Journal ArticleDOI

Proline accumulation and AtP5CS2 gene activation are induced by plant-pathogen incompatible interactions in Arabidopsis.

TL;DR: It is shown that, in Arabidopsis thaliana, Pro biosynthesis can be activated by incompatible plant-pathogen interactions triggering a hypersensitive response (HR), and Pro content and AtP5CS2 expression were enhanced by ROS in wild-type plants, suggesting that ROS may function as an intermediate signal in AtP 5CS2-mediated Pro accumulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel aldose/aldehyde reductase protects transgenic plants against lipid peroxidation under chemical and drought stresses.

TL;DR: A stress-activated alfalfa gene encoding a novel plant NADPH-dependent aldose/aldehyde reductase that also exhibited characteristics of the homologous human enzyme is identified, revealing a new and efficient detoxification pathway in plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of 1000 sequenced T-DNA tags in the Arabidopsis genome

TL;DR: The additive frequency of insertions in 5'-regulatory regions and coding domains provided an estimate for the mutation rate, suggesting that 47.8% of mapped T-DNA tags induced knockout mutations in Arabidopsis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immunolocalization of a novel annexin-like protein encoded by a stress and abscisic acid responsive gene in alfalfa.

TL;DR: The isolation and characterization of a full-length cDNA clone from alfalfa termed AnnMs2 encoding a 333 amino acid long polypeptide that shows 32-37% sequence identity with both mammalian and plant annexins, and has four tandem repeats is reported.
