Solid state fermentation reactors: from lab scale to pilot plant.

TL;DR: From about 10 years, developing reactors from lab scale to pilot plant, based on the same technology, reactor design and flowsheet to allow fermentation with a deep layer, with the possibility of forced aeration and the possibility or not to agitate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pilot-scale reactor for aseptic solid-state cultivation

TL;DR: In this article, a 50 l pilot scale reactor was used to carry out solid-state cultivations in sterile conditions using a forced aeration system with a planetary agitation device, and the medium containing wheat bran wetted with a glucose solution was kept sterile for 8 days at 32°C.
Book ChapterDOI

The INRA-Dijon reactors : Designs and applications

TL;DR: A brief review of solid state fermentation is presented in this paper along with the description of the INRA-Dijon this paper, i.e., packed bed reactors with forced aeration through the culture layer and used for different non-sterile processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Laboratory scale reactor for aseptic solid state cultivation

TL;DR: Results concerning the temperature, the water amount regulations and the sterility preservation are presented during working tests on a sugar beet pulp medium and an example of Trichoderma harzianum conidia production on the same medium is given.
